Original sin is the state of alienation from God that affects every person due to Adam’s sin. It's a condition we're born into. Personal sin, on the other hand, is a conscious choice by an individual to act against God’s law. These can be either mortal (a grave violation of God's law) or venial (a less serious offense).

"Why do Catholics pray to saints? Isn't that worship?"

Great question! Catholics don't worship saints; worship (latria) is for God alone. We 'venerate' saints (dulia) and ask for their intercession, just like you might ask a friend on earth to pray for you. We believe they are in heaven with God and can pray for us in a powerful way.
